We are sorry you are having trouble!
<Why we made changes>
Please read on for more help...
Unfortunately, Windows Media Player does not come set up by default to pick up our new Ogg Vorbis broadcast medium, and can be frustrating to get set up right. Most likely you will see a "get plugin" message and get sent down a path that may not work for you. So we are pleased to recommend plenty of alternative media players that work just fine if you can't get Windows Media Player to work, plus tips to make it work with the effective codec we offer for it below...
*Installation tip, if you are sensitive about what plays with which player on your computer
be careful not to let any new player below take over as the default one for ALL media file types when you install ANY players, except Kantaris, we like it very much for it's well behaved installation and intuitive interface.
We also HIGHLY recommend choosing 'advanced' options when installing any of these players, so that you can control what 'add ons' get installed and how. For instance, who needs another tool bar on your internet browser?.. or to change your default search source and/or home page, watch out for these things particularly. We find it highly objection al when venders pile stuff on!
| Kantaris | This is a really nice player. It plays everything and I mean everything we've thrown at it so far. It is a prettier version of VLC and is extremely powerful even as a beta release. I love the interface which is very intuitive. It installs easily using the defaults offered. Once installed, it's easy to get our stream playing, then save it as a playlist to open again next time. They don't seem to support the software anymore, I think they went to the VLC org listed below... |
| Embedded Windows Media Player | Click the link to the left, this will create a small Popup Window that loads the Windows Media Player embedded audio control and allows you to browse other web sites at your leisure, leaving the music to play in it's own window in the background. Works in all browsers. JavaScript must be enabled and it uses an ActiveX control that must 'be allowed' in Internet Explorer. We've had some issues with this player picking up our new stream format, .ogg format is open source, Windows is not... |
Windows Media Player |
If the above left embedded player link fails, try starting Windows media player. Click on 'File', then Click on 'Open URL' |
| Media Player Classic |
Media Player Classic looks just like Windows Media Player 6.4, but has many additional features. It has a built in DVD player with real-time zoom, support for AVI subtitles, QuickTime and RealVideo support (requires QuickTime and/or Real Player); built-in MPEG2/SVCD/DVD codec. Download here: www.free-codecs.com |
| Winamp | Start Winamp. Click on 'File', then Click on 'Play URL' Copy and Paste the following: http://75.145.75.238:8000/takilmafm.ogg or: http://www.inwoon.net:8000/TakilmaFM and select play. Download latest Winamp version here: http://www.winamp.com/player we've had the fewest reported problems reported in feedback on this one... |
| VLC VideoLan |
Start VLC. Click on 'Media', then Click on 'Open Network', click the 'Show More Options' checkbox |
| RealPlayer |
I couldn't get RealPlayer to Play a stream like a Real Player does. So don't know what to tell you, they are very proprietary about what you use and listen to. Not recommended. |
| Nero |
I also couldn't get Nero to play a stream. I only have version 7 so the new ones may do it. When you find the place to open an URL, Copy and Paste the following: http://75.145.75.238:8000/takilmafm.ogg |
That pretty much covers all the Players out there we know of excepting the effectively geeky Foobar,
and yeah, we ignored Quicktime, please go figure out how to play us with it and let us know.
Thanks!
If you know of others you like and can recommend, also please let us know!
We certainly hope this helps, but if none of these options work for you please email us!
In order to better help you, please include
